Plasma Etch Ceramics Case Study
Details of Application: BT-1
This company is a manufacturer of jet nozzles for ink jet printing. These nozzles are primarily constructed of nickel and the photoresist process leaves a residue "scum" on the nickel. This residue interferes with ink flow because it remains in the nozzle portion of the part. This company experienced a 100% in part functionality by applying a plasma treatment to their production line.
This company utilizes a 50/50 mixture of oxygen and argon to treat their products and improve product reliability.
Plasma Etch, Inc. equipment was chosen due to the significant decrease in the usual cycle time needed by the plasma system previously used by the nozzle manufacturer. Plasma Etch, Inc., worked with this company and developed a plan that worked. A frequency R.F. Generator created the isotropic (three dimensional etch) results so desperately needed due to the shape of this company's parts.
